This Magic Mirror interactive is designed to add education and play to a careers hub. It uses infra-red motion tracking to overlay the viewers video image with pictures of illustrated career ‘outfits.’
Outfits include Astronaut, Forensic Detective, F1 Driver, Nurse and Deep Sea Diver.
The mirror is controlled using a motion-based interface – the users hands become like mouse cursors. Bodies are tracked using infra-red technology.
The virtual mirror is designed to drive engagement within the Science Centre’s ‘My World of Work’ hub. Each outfit is combined with sound effects and animation to create an immersive interactive environment.
The creative idea behind the user experience was to make a Magic Mirror in which the content or environment would change to reflect the item that the user selects to ‘try on’.
The interactive has been duplicated in other hubs around Scotland.
